About Me
Hi, I'm Shawn Cheek, the creator of webpianoteacher.com and owner of the Shawn Cheek School Of Music in Robinson, TX.
At the time I am writing this I am 38 years old, have played the piano for 30 years, and have taught piano lessons for over 21 years.
Music has been a part of my life since I was born, and I can't imagine what life would be like if my mom hadn't signed me up for lessons when I was in second grade.
Teaching piano online has opened up a world of possibilities for students and teachers alike, and a well organized blog can serve as a central hub for lessons, tips, and inspiration. When a creator shares decades of playing experience through posts, downloadable resources, and thoughtful commentary, the site becomes more than a portfolio. It becomes a classroom without walls, welcoming readers who want to sharpen their sight reading, explore new repertoire, or simply stay motivated between lessons. Clear categories and consistent publishing help visitors find what they need quickly, whether they are browsing by month, searching for a specific theme, or following along with a structured series of instructional posts that build skill over time.
A strong piano teaching blog also thrives on community and ongoing conversation, which is why reader comments, social sharing, and subscription options matter so much. Encouraging visitors to follow updates, share posts with friends, or subscribe by email keeps the audience engaged long after a single lesson is published. Over time, an archive of articles becomes a valuable reference library covering technique, practice strategies, technology for musicians, and repertoire suggestions across many styles. By balancing educational depth with an inviting tone and an easy to navigate layout, a piano blog can grow into a trusted destination where students return regularly to learn, ask questions, and feel supported on their musical journey.
